Thoughts on a Friday

Just some general thoughts. Adri'auna is working on finding some games to play at her birthday party next month. She is supposed to be having it at a party room in Hewitt, Texas (next city over) and inviting some of the girls from her class. Should be fun.

Earlier tonight Don came to me and said.... "Two things..... I need you to do ___________ for me. And I have had a pain right here today." (He had his hand right around his pants top on the right side.)

I said.... "Okay. That spot is probably your kidney." (Since we already know he's had blood in his urine for the past month or more now AND they found those three cysts when he was in the hospital.)

I checked my calendar and he has an appointment with the same doctor who told us about the cysts this coming Thursday. He said that date would be fine. That it's not a horrible pain, just a dull one. So I told him if the pain gets worse, we'll go to the ER (if it's THAT bad), or move the appointment up if possible.

So I just looked on-line and the photos do show it roughly in the same spot IS kidneys like I told him. But more to the "back" instead of "front" of the body.

Then I read a few things and here's what it said.

Definition of Cancer, kidney: Malignancy of the kidney, the organ that is primarily responsible for the removal of metabolic products from the body. The types of kidney cancer in adults and children are different and distinct:

Adults -- Kidney cancer tends to occur after age 50 and strikes men twice as often as women. The most common type occurs in the renal (kidney) tissue that filters the blood and produces the urine and is called renal cell cancer (or renal cell carcinoma). Another type of adult kidney tumor arises in the renal pelvis where the urine collects and is called transitional cell carcinoma. The most frequent diagnostic sign of kidney cancer in adults is blood in the urine.

Sheesh!!! I tell ya, it's one thing after another around here. Something is ALWAYS happening.

I have had this feeling ..... ever since we were told there was "a cyst" in his kidney when he first saw the dr after his hospital stay. The ugly C word....... "cancer".

Since he has back issues that they tell him he can't be operated on for because of his heart condition..... I am pretty sure they won't operate on him for his kidney cysts either. They said due to his heart condition and the meds he has to take, that he would not make it through surgery.

When I told the dr about the blood in his urine that we noticed as soon as he came home from the hospital..... he didn't seem too concerned. (I figured he already realized that the cyst was cancer so he wasn't surprised.)

I told him again during the last visit and that it "comes and goes" depending on what time of day it is, etc. He, again, didn't seem real concerned.

He tried to tell us that it could be a symptom of his "health issues" ...... as if his back were causing it. (Like I would actually believe that?!?! lol) Then he just let the "or" of that sentence trail off.

Maybe Don wouldn't/didn't notice but I did. I haven't told him ..... why worry him? If he doesn't have it, it would only upset him. If he does have it, there's nothing they can do.

So I'm wondering and yes, worried, at what this next visit is going to show. They are going to do another ultrasound to see if the size has changed at all. But if Don's having pain now..... I'd say something has changed.

Right now .... even though I had more to post.... I have to run and take care of something for Adri'auna. She only has 48 minutes before bedtime.

Later.

My poor Wolfie - you really do have your hands full, don't you? I think you're right not to worry him at this stage of the game, though. Especially if surgery might not be an option. We're praying for you and yours, my friend!
